EMBROIDERING ON GOLF SHIRTS & DRESS SHIRTS & JACKETS
Choosing a Golf Shirt for Embroidery
Golf shirts are also referred to as sport shirts, polos, and corporate casualwear. They are available in different types of fabrics such as jacquard, bird’s-eye, herringbone, jersey knit, cotton-polyester blend, pique, 100% combed cotton, peached twill, waffle weaves and, most recently, micro-fiber. Thinner fabrics and cotton-polyester blends cost less. Quality fabrics (such as a jacquard or herringbone) may cost a little more, but they last longer and have a nicer appearance.
We not only carry men’s golf shirts, but we also offer them in women and children’s styles.
Embroidery adds powerful style and elegance to
any golf shirt.
Choosing a Dress Shirt
The most commonly used fabrics for dress shirts displaying an embroidered logo are cotton-twill, pique, denim, cotton/polyester blend and fleece. Embroidery on this type of shirt makes a powerful statement.
Choosing a Jacket
Primarily, jackets are made of sturdy, tightly woven fabrics, which are prefect for embroidery. Logos on these items are most commonly placed on the left chest. Alternatively, they may be placed on the right-chest, pocket and sleeve. There is also what is referred to as the “locker room tag”, which is a small partial logo, without text, sewn 1 to 1.5” below the back collar seam.
The most common place to embroider a logo is on the left side of the chest. The maximum width for a logo on this area of the shirt would be 5” wide by 4” high. The standard logo size is approximately 2.5”-3.5” wide, and approximately 7,000 stitches.
Any text should be no less than ¼” in height. Script font (like Brush Script) or serif fonts (like Times New Roman) are not recommended for text ½” or smaller. Using capitalized letters in a sans serif font (such as Ariel) usually produces the best results.
You can also embroider a small logo or web
address onto the sleeve, the collar, or on the back of the shirt,
below the collar.
